A Majestic Name, A Personal Savior

O Lord, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth...When I look at your heavens, the work of your fingers, the moon and the stars, which you have set in place, what is man that you are mindful of him, and the son of man that you care for him?  Yet you have made him a little lower than the heavenly beings and crowned him with glory and honor.  - Psalm 8:1, 3-5

I sing songs about the majesty of the Lord's name all the time, but rarely stop to think about what that means.
Majestic - high, beautiful, powerful- these words come to mind.
The Lord's name, YHWH, to the Israelites was so honored they refused to speak it aloud or write it down in fear of offending God. It means "I am that I am". The Creator, the Almighty, the Most High, the only GOD...

God is so mighty and powerful and yet so personal. Verses 4 & 5 tell me that God is mindful of me and given me glory and, who has wronged Him on every level; me, who has mocked, broken, and ignored His laws and commandments...God humbled himself to become like me to save me from myself, from my wickedness and despair, He endured a horrific death to pay for my disobedience...the most supreme being in the universe was thinking of me.
